Fairtrade Fortnight takes place from 9 to 22 September and is the ideal time to take a moment to reflect on sustainable production and ethical practices. We at Guylian are proud to source 100% Fairtrade cocoa for all our products and be the largest Belgian chocolate brand globally in terms of the Fairtrade Premium we’ve generated; contributing approximately €860k to Fairtrade cocoa farmers since we started working with Fairtrade in 2022. Our Seashells have been loved around the world since 1958 and are sold across four continents in more than 120 countries. 🤎

Be the change today, so farmers can change their tomorrow

It’s been 30 years since the first Fairtrade certified products hit supermarket shelves. Since then, Fairtrade has not only pioneered a unique way of doing trade – and shown how it makes a tangible difference – it has become the world’s most recognised and trusted ethical label.

Through the strength of Fairtrade’s global community, millions of Fairtrade farmers and workers have secured a fairer price for what they produce. Furthermore, through the Fairtrade Premium, producers across the world have been able to improve their livelihoods and those of their families and communities. For example, Fairtrade Premium has been spent on projects such as paying for school and university fees, leadership training for women, and reforestation projects.

The future is fair

Fairtrade reports that farmers tell them that a fair price for their produce is the most important factor in improving their lives. A better price enables farmers to build resilience, adapt to climate change and withstand shocks. Farmers also need to help set the terms of trade to rebalance power in supply chains. But they can’t do it alone. So buying our Seashells also means standing with farmers like Yeo so they can improve their lives and those of their communities’.
